Saint Camille continues its expansion in Benin
This Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Saint Camille reached a new stage in its development by organizing a day of conference and medical consultations in Ouèssè, in the Beninese hinterland, more than 300 kilometers from Cotonou.
From 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Saint Camille de Dassa team devoted herself entirely to welcoming and caring for patients. Throughout the day, the beneficiaries followed one another: while some returned home after their consultation, new patients arrived, ensuring a continuous flow.
This mission took place in favorable conditions thanks to good weather and the valuable support of the local clergy, who provided assistance both in the organization of care and in taking care of the team's meals.
Placed under the responsibility of Grégoire, the team also benefited from the presence of three Italian friends of Saint Camille — Marco, Anna and Meri — whose expertise and commitment contributed to the quality of the care provided.
However, nothing suggested such an influx. At the opening conference, the chapel was only half full. But as the hours passed, more and more patients came, testifying to the real need for local care in this region.
At the end of this day, the objectives set were fully achieved. This event also marks the launch of a new relay center in Ouèssè, a town long penalized by its isolation, the distance and the state of the roads.
With this new establishment, Saint Camille confirms its desire to bring care closer to the most vulnerable populations. Faithful to its mission, it pursues a unique objective: serve the most deprived with competence, proximity and humanity.
